When creating activities for languages, it is important to use themes to tie ideas together. This helps to ensure that language concepts are introduced in context, which enables learners to understand the reasons for why they need to learn the concepts, and sets them up to be able to internalise the knowledge.
Below are three examples of worksheets I created for my South African CAPS Curriculum Intermediate Phase classes.

Learners struggle to summarise knowledge, which makes it hard for them to internalise the concepts as well as making it challenging to study. Therefore, it is important to start teaching learners this skill through scaffolded steps.
For Term 1 in Grade 5, I created topic summary templates such as this for the learners to fill in. We could gradually move to having less information given on the template as they learned how to do it themselves.

Geography units contain new terminology and concepts that can be better grasped through visual cues. Showing learners how information can be mapped using images and symbols in conjunction with words can teach them valuable skills for making their own information maps in later grades.
